What the workshop actually covers
Honest detail on the jobs we do well, the jobs we sub-contract, and the jobs we will politely send you somewhere better suited. No service writer translation, no upsell sheet.
Scheduled servicing
Every car that comes in for a service gets the same routine: a written checklist of what's planned, real-world consumables that match the manufacturer specification, and a printed report at handover. We use long-life oils where the engine asks for them, and a more frequent change interval where short journeys make 12-month oil counter-productive.
- Interim service — oil & filter, 30-point safety check, tyre & brake report.
- Full service — interim plus pollen and air filters, plug renewal where due, brake-fluid moisture test.
- Major service — full plus fuel filter, coolant strength test, gearbox-oil level check, comprehensive scan.
- Pre-MOT inspection — book the day before your test and we'll fix any advisories before they become fails.
Engine & system diagnostics
The dashboard light is the start of the conversation, not the end of it. We run manufacturer-level scan tools on BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota, and a high-quality multi-marque platform on the rest. Where the fault is intermittent we use a data-logger on a road test rather than guess from a stored code.
- Live data on the run, not just stored codes.
- ECU, transmission, ABS, airbag, body and infotainment modules covered.
- Coding and adaptations after a battery, sensor or actuator change.
- Honest go/no-go on whether a deeper strip-down is justified.
Air-conditioning & cabin climate
Both gases on the same machine: R134a for cars built up to 2017 and R1234yf for everything since. A re-gas alone is rarely the answer — most weak air-con is a slow leak, a clogged condenser, or a tired blower. We diagnose first and quote the actual fix.
- UV-dye leak detection rather than guessing.
- Antibacterial evaporator flush before each summer.
- Cabin (pollen) filter renewal and HVAC blend-flap repairs.
- Compressor diagnosis and replacement where it's beyond saving.
Brakes, dampers and steering geometry
Pads, discs, calipers, rear shoes on the older cars; struts, dampers, drop-links and wishbones on the modern ones. Every job that disturbs steering or suspension geometry ends on the four-wheel laser alignment rig before the keys come back to you.
- Pad and disc grades chosen for how you actually drive.
- DOT4 or DOT4 LV brake-fluid renewal on a 24-month cycle.
- Wheel-bearing and CV-joint replacement.
- Hunter-style four-wheel alignment with a printed before/after sheet.
Bodywork, dent & paint
Inside our enclosed low-bake booth we colour-match using a digital spectrophotometer rather than eyeballing it under the wrong light. Smaller jobs — kerbed alloys, car-park dings, scuffed bumpers — are quoted as fixed-price packages so you know what you're paying before the panel comes off.
- Paintless dent removal where the metal isn't stretched.
- Bumper refinish and plastic repair, including textured grain restoration.
- Full panel respray, blended into adjacent panels for an invisible repair.
- Insurance-claim work direct with most major insurers.
Electrical, ECU & key work
Modern cars complain in code — when a battery is replaced, a sensor swapped, or a control unit refreshed, the new part needs to be told who it is. We have the licences and tools for that, and the patience to chase a parasitic battery drain through a wiring loom for as long as it takes to find it.
- Battery, alternator and starter diagnosis with a load-tester rather than a guess.
- ECU coding and online programming where the manufacturer requires it.
- Spare key cutting and coding for the marques we cover.
- Headlight, infotainment, and CAN-bus communication faults.
Not sure which service is the right one?
Tell us a little about the car and what's prompting the visit. We will reply with a recommendation and a written estimate before you commit to anything.
