Terms & Conditions

The basis on which we accept vehicles for work. Reasonable, written in English, intended to be read.

Last reviewed: 12 January 2026.

1. The agreement

These terms apply when Undarix Motor Works Ltd (company number 14852367, registered in England and Wales, "the workshop", "we", "us") accepts your vehicle for inspection, service, repair or bodywork. They sit alongside, but do not displace, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

2. Estimates and quotations

An estimate is a workshop's best honest guess at the cost of a job before the parts and labour are fully understood. A quotation is a fixed price. We try to issue quotations rather than estimates. Where a job's scope can only be defined after a strip-down or a road-test logging session, we will issue an estimate first and confirm a quotation in writing before any irrevocable work begins.

We will not exceed a written quotation without your written authorisation in advance, except where a genuinely unforeseen safety-critical issue is uncovered and we are unable to reach you for instruction within a reasonable time. In that situation we will pause the job at the safest point and resume only on your authorisation.

3. Authorisation to work

By signing the job-card or replying "go ahead" to the written quotation by email or text message, you authorise us to carry out the work described. Authorisation may be given by the registered keeper or, where you have produced reasonable evidence of authority, by an authorised driver of the vehicle.

4. Replaced parts

We retain the parts removed from your vehicle until you collect the car. If you would like to inspect or take possession of removed parts, please ask at handover. Parts not collected within fourteen days of the invoice date are recycled in line with our supplier's WEEE/IED programme.

5. Workshop warranty

We provide a 180-day workshop warranty on every part we fit and the labour to fit it. The warranty covers premature failure of the supplied part and any consequential workshop labour to remedy that failure. It does not cover wear-and-tear consumption, damage caused by accident, neglect or modification, or items where the failure originates from a defect outside the work we performed.

This workshop warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

6. Payment

Invoices are payable on collection of the vehicle, unless prior credit terms have been agreed in writing for trade clients. Accepted payment methods are bank transfer, debit card, and credit card. Cash is accepted up to £500 per invoice.

7. Storage

Vehicles uncollected within seven days of completion will be charged a storage fee of £15 per day. Vehicles uncollected for more than ninety days, after written notice to the registered keeper, may be sold under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 to recover unpaid invoice and storage costs.

8. Liability while in our care

Vehicles in our compound are covered by our motor-trade insurance during opening hours and by a CCTV-monitored secure compound overnight. We accept liability for loss or damage caused directly by our negligence. We do not accept liability for items of personal property left in the vehicle (sat-navs, dash-cams, sunglasses, child seats, etc.) — please remove these before handing the keys over.

9. MOT testing

Where we present a vehicle for an MOT test, we are doing so on your behalf as the registered keeper. The MOT result is the determination of an appointed examiner, and we cannot warrant a pass — we can only carry out the work that, in our professional judgement, is most likely to secure one.

10. Subcontracted work

Some specialist work — engine machining, classic-car trim, gearbox rebuilds — is subcontracted to suppliers we have worked with for years. Where we subcontract, we tell you in advance, and the subcontractor's work is covered by our 180-day workshop warranty exactly as if we had performed it in-house.

11. Cancellation

You may cancel a booked job at any point before parts are ordered or work begins, at no charge. Once parts have been ordered specifically for your vehicle, the parts cost is payable; if those parts are returnable, we will refund less the supplier's restocking fee.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes that cannot be resolved by direct conversation will be referred to a recognised mediation service before any party initiates court proceedings.
